Elevate Technology Solutions is currently accepting applications for a Manager of System Operations, to support our operations in Newton, Ma. This excellent opportunity requires that the ideal candidate to be customer focused, and willing to join a winning team.
The Manager of System Operations will be responsible for the following:
Management of a team of 6 highly, technical professionals, including one supervisor, in support of 200
servers. Ensure projects, operational maintenance and reliability issues are addressed with a timely and proactive approach.
Manage and report on all activities associated with the health, performance and reliability of all servers and services under System Operations control, including capacity planning, availability trending and application performance.
Manager and prioritize all application support activities including but not limited to: email (Exchange & Proofpoint), Infrastructure Services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SSO, web proxy filtering), Database Services (SQL and Oracle - vendor managed support) and data center operations (HP Blades, VMware, NetApp, Avamar).
Assist in defining appropriate technology standards to use within the company's existing architecture. Understand emerging technologies and determine appropriate use within business applications and how that best plays to the overall organizational strategy.
Research and provide strategic direction on the use of new products/technology including: servers, operating systems, systems management, backups, storage, and onboarding of new business applications.
Oversee all change management-related audit activities associated with the server and application environment including documentation requirements, control testing, evidence gathering, scheduled outages, fall-back procedures, etc.
Responsible for proactive monitoring all systems under Systems Operations control and for quick resolution (during and after hours) by adhering to notification and escalation procedures.
Responsible for delivery of Incident Reports documenting production outages and detailing root cause analysis and action items to eliminate repeat occurrences.
The Manager of System Operations must have the following skills:
Strong project management and team oversight experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Committed to teamwork, responsiveness, effectiveness.
Ability to demonstrate creativity and perseverance in the face of obstacles.
Ability to prioritize in a complex, diverse environment with rapidly changing priorities.
The Manager of System Operations must meet the following
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline preferred with 8 years progressive career advancement in the Systems Operations field
Strong hands-on technical background with at least four years in a 24/7/365 operational role.
A minimum of 3 years technical management experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of business systems and server technology, storage systems and related data center technologies.
Candidate should be comfortable in environments of 200
Windows-based servers, heavy installation of VMware, SAN Storage, database systems, MS Exchange 2010, Active Directory 2008.
Excellent knowledge of Server/Data Center Operations in a dynamic growing organization.
Must be comfortable setting priorities and managing to deliverables.
Solid knowledge of standards, best practices and key performance metric reporting.
Well-developed ability to successfully prioritize and maximize resources within a complex, highly dynamic and aggressive growth environment with rapidly changing priorities.
Ability to present operational reports to senior management on a monthly basis.
Work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and expectations.
Highly effective interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment and promote cohesion and pride with the team.
Strong organizational, project management and analytical skills.
Strong desire to be an excellent manager putting in the time to know and develop your team to their full potential.
